Rita Simononis

Obituary of Rita Marie Simononis

Rita Marie Simononis, age 90, of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, devoted mother, adored grandmother and great-grandmother.

Born on May 3rd, 1934 in Girardville, Pennsylvania, Rita was the youngest of five children. She met her husband "Simmy" her freshman year in high school, she was feisty, he was smitten, they danced the Jitterbug, and the rest was history. They married on February 7th, 1953, and raised three beautiful children in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.

Rita was a woman of great substance. She was known for her honest demeanor, her wit, and her undeniable love for her family. Rita considered her countless nieces, nephews, and neighbors, her family as well.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Muredda, her husband Robert Simononis, her brothers Joseph Muredda, Anthony Muredda, Lewis Muredda, her sister Jean Farrell, her sister-in-law Margaret Muredda and brother-in-law Thomas Farrell.

She is survived by her three children, Robert  (Kathy), David, Lisa (Ed), her six cherished grandchildren, Robert, Joseph (Kelsey), Steven (Morgan), Samantha (Matthew), Rachel and Nicole. Rita was blessed with seven great-grandchildren Lucy, Chase, Austin, Jack, Weston, William and Mason.

Above all, Rita will be deeply remembered for her kind heart. Appropriately named after Saint Rita of Cascia, the “Saint of the Impossible”, Rita embodied her best characteristic; a peacemaker.

Rita’s memory will live on through those who loved her deeply; from her timeless recipes, to her taste in port wine and her perfectly timed humor.

Our wish as a family is to remember Rita, our “Nana,” in love. As put perfectly in 1 Corinthians 13, “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church ,1795 Columbia Ave., Warrington, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM.  Interment to follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont.
