Joan Ann Allen (nee Alfonse) died suddenly on February 11, 2026. Joan was loved deeply by her family and friends. Joan was born in Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, Pa. on February 2, 1957. She grew up in Conshohocken, Pa. where she was a member of the Conshohocken Golden Bears football team cheerleading squad. She graduated from Colonial Middle School, in Plymouth Township, where she was a member of the cheerleading squad there as well. She was a graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, class of 1975. She was preceded in death by her Father John T. Alfonse, Sr. and her Mother Laura Metzger Alfonse.
Joan worked for about ten years at Sperry UNIVAC in Blue Bell, Pa. Joan initially worked in the mail room and eventually worked her way up to becoming a billing specialist before focusing her efforts on her marriage and children.
Joan took great pride in her role as a homemaker. She was an excellent Italian cook. No job could ever be more important to her than caring for her children. She was a dedicated Mother which is the highlight of her life. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Timothy J. Allen Sr. of Chalfont, Pa. and their three children; Katie Allen, Kelly Allen M.D., and Timothy J. Allen Jr. She is also survived by their three grandchildren; Brady Allen Bennett, Eva Allen Drexler, and Shane “Wes” Geddie.
Joan was extremely proud of all her children and especially proud of her daughter Kelly, a graduate of Drexel University, and Drexel University Medical School. Kelly is currently a Captain in the Pa. National Guard, and a Veteran of the war on terror having served in Afghanistan.
Joan’s children and grandchildren all have attended Central Bucks schools, and in process of attending, or graduating, from CB West High School in Doylestown, Pa. The quality of their educations and her efforts in helping them attain their academic goals at such fine schools being a great source of pride for her. Joan was actively involved in supporting her family’s efforts with Doylestown Athletic Association (AA) softball, Warrington AA football and basketball, as well as helping organize the Mike Pettine football clinics at Warrington AA in the early 2000’s, and thereby raising money for Ronald McDonald House charities.
Joan spent twelve years dedicated to the physical care and comfort of her parents, providing them financial support, and the care of her handicapped sister.
Joan will be missed greatly!
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 20th at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Church at 321 W. Butler Ave. in Chalfont, Pa. 18914, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30 AM. Burial will be at St. John Neumann Cemetery following the Funeral Mass.
