John "Turtle" Tumelty IV Obituary

John “Turtle” Tumelty IV went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2026, at the age of 57.Known affectionately as “Turtle” to those closest to him, John lived a life defined by hard work, adventure, love, and unwavering loyalty. He was a free spirit who, above all else, put God and his family first, holding everything else second to those guiding principles.

John had a deep love for fishing, matched only by his passion for the music of the Grateful Dead. A proud Deadhead, he found meaning and inspiration in their songs and outlook on life. One lyric in particular seemed to reflect his spirit: “Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.” Beneath his tough exterior was a kind and gentle soul, someone who found true joy in showing kindness and generosity to others.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy of loyalty and love. John is survived by his parents, John and Barbara Tumelty; his devoted wife, Kimberly (née Eisler); his stepson, Malachi Messimer (Samantha); his brothers, Jason (Kelly) and Joshua (April); his grandchildren, Malachi Jr., McKenzie, and Mason; and his in-laws, Patricia and Louis DiNapoli.

Relatives and friends may greet the family Wednesday, March 25th, at 2:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 877 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966. Where John's Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 P.M. Interment will be private.
