Sharon M. Houlihan Obituary
Sharon M. Houlihan (Hearn), age 72, of Horsham passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on May 15, 2026. Beloved mother of Meghan DiRaimondi (Chuck), Bobby Houlihan and Christine Houlihan. Proud Nana of Charlie, Emily and Owen DiRaimondi who brought her so much joy. She was preceded in death by her mother (Florence Nicolai), stepfather (Richard Nicolai), father (Julian Hearn), and stepmother (Anne Hearn), and her beloved husband of 35 years (Robert W. Houlihan).
Sharon was born in Lousieville, Kentucky but was raised in Philadelphia (Bridesburg), PA. She was a Girl Scout and spent many years selling cookies and traveling with her troop. She was a graduate of Frankford Nursing School.
For more than 40 years, she dedicated her life to caring for the tiniest and most vulnerable babies as a NICU nurse at both Frankford Hospital (Torresdale) and Abington Hospital. She offered comfort, skill and compassion to countless families during some of their most difficult moments.
Her compassion extended far beyond people. She had an enormous love for animals and regularly supported rescues efforts thru donations and collected supplies. She had three dogs throughout her life, Max, Rex and Maggie (all beagles), who brought her years of companionship and joy. She extended that same love to all of her grandpets, who she loved to spoil. She was never too busy to visit or watch these grandpets including cats, Gatsby, Daisy, Summer, Bunsen, Beaker, and Oliver and dogs, Fred, Cooper, Sadie, Grace, and Frankie.
Sharon had a lifelong love for Walt Disney World where she found joy, magic and some of her happiest memories spent with family.
Being “Nana” was one of the greatest joys of her life. She loved her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them, whether it was celebrating milestones, sharing traditions, spoiling them with thoughtful gifts, or simply enjoying everyday moments together. Her grandchildren brought her endless pride, laughter and happiness, and she never missed an opportunity to tell others how much they meant to her. The love she gave as a Nana was constant, unconditional, and will remain a lasting part of their lives forever.
Sharon was a devoted and loving mother to her three children, and nothing mattered more to her than her family. She poured her heart into motherhood, from volunteering as a lunch mom at school and working the church funnel cake booth, family trips to Disney World and the beach, to creating countless special memories thru simple moments spent together. She cherished endless phone calls, lunch dates, shopping trips, and cozy Hallmark movie nights. She loved spending time with her son-in-law, who she welcomed and loved as part of the family. No matter their age, she was always there with love, support, advice, and a listening ear, making everyone feel deeply cared for every single day.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but there is comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband of 35 years, the love of her life and her partner thru every chapter.
