Obituary of Cecilia A. Petersen

Cecilia A. "Ceil" Petersen, 82, passed into eternal rest on January 31, 2018 in Willow Grove, Pa. She was born in Philadelphia to the late John A. and Helen R. (McFadden) Guest on June 15th, 1935. She married the late David J. "Pete" Petersen, her true love and husband of 54 years, on November 7, 1953. She was a kind and devoted mother to her four children: Patrick J. Petersen of Warminster, Pa; AnneMarie (Petersen) DiStanislao of Willow Grove, Pa.,;  David F. Petersen of Horsham, Pa.; and John G. Petersen of Newark, Del. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 4 great -grandchildren. An excellent cook and avid homemaker, she enjoyed ballroom dancing, solving crossword puzzles, and entertaining and socializing with friends and family. Her professional career was highlighted by 20 years of outstanding and dedicated work in the food service department at Archbishop Wood High School for Boys. Beginning part-time in the 1960's, she eventually became head cook and then cafeteria director, serving until the school became co-educational in 1989. She subsequently worked in the food service department at Lower Moreland School District until she retired. Preceded in death by her sister, Helena M. (Guest) Gardner of Trevose, she is survived by her sister Regina (Guest) Saller of Marathon Fl. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and dear friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Bosco Church, 215 E. County Line Rd. Hatboro, Pa. 19040 on Saturday, February 10th, at 10:30 A.M. Mass will be preceded by a visitation with the family from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Interment is private.
