Obituary of Elizabeth Kathryn DeHope
Elizabeth Kathryn DeHope, 89
Elizabeth Kathryn ‘Betty’ DeHope (nee Fitzgerald), of Hatboro, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2018 at the Abington Hospice at Warminster. She was 89.
Betty was born in Ardsley on May 11, 1929, the second child of the late Russell and the late Kathryn (Rooney) Fitzgerald. She graduated from Abington High School in 1947 and was married to the late Albert DeHope Jr. for 65 years. Betty was preceded in death by her sister Marie, brother-in-law Joseph Hearn, and her brother Russell (Frances) Fitzgerald. She will be greatly missed by her sister Dr. Kathryn Fitzgerald and sister-in-law Frances Fitzgerald. Betty is cherished by her four children Elizabeth (Paul) Kelly, Albert (Keith Harter) DeHope III, Dr. Eli (Joanne Finegan) DeHope and James (Laura) DeHope. She was an amazing and loving grandmother to Melody Latare, Stephen Boyce, Kara (Brett) Grisamer and Alexa (Michael) O’Brien and beloved great grandmother to Searra Sconions, Chandler Boyce, LJ Latare, Isabella Boyce, Alexander Grisamer and Rhys O’Brien. Betty was a favorite aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a faithful member of St. John Bosco Church 64 years. In the past, Betty worked at Burpee Seeds and Asplundh Tree Company.
Betty embodied kindness; she had a loving and generous heart, and spent her life giving to others, her family, friends and community. She was the center of her family, and the regular host and organizer of family events.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 21st from 9:30 – 11:00am at St. John Bosco Church, 215 E. County Line Rd, Hatboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery 3797 County Line Rd, Chalfont. Family and friends are encouraged to wear BLUE in her honor to celebrate her life with her favorite color.
