Obituary of Dolores Marie Charles

Charles, Dolores “Sue” (nee Altomari) (nee Baratta). Our mom found eternal peace in heaven with her parents John and Edna Altomari on Sunday, August 12th, 2018. Of very few people could it be said that they were loved by everyone. It was certainly true of our mom, who many called Sue. She died in the embrace of her five children. A genuine smile, a warm personality and an always pleasant disposition made anyone who ever met her feel special and loved. Every one of her 12 grandchildren really thought they were her favorite. She graduated Frankford High School where she was voted Homecoming Queen her Senior year. She married Anthony P. Baratta in 1963 and raised 5 children Anthony (Trish), Angela Kearns (Tom), Adam (Charlotte), Andrew (Noelle), Anita Householder (Keith). Sue is also survived by her brother John (Ann Louise). She was an avid volunteer and was actively engaged in our school and extracurricular activities. She did important work as a counselor for a domestic abuse call center. She began her career later in life as the activities director at a nursing home, Harston Hall. For many years she spread love through the lives of its patients and staff. After a divorce, she married Howard “Duke” Charles in 1999. She was born an Altomari, became a Baratta and then a Charles. Her life made the legacy of each of those families greatly richer, and the life of any person she touched a little more special. Please celebrate our mother’s life by making someone else feel good; share a smile or a funny joke - blonde jokes were her favorite. She was never one to inconvenience others. If you have the time, please join us for a celebration of her life. We are receiving visitors at St Robert Bellarmine, 856 Euclid Avenue, Warrington PA 18976, Friday, September 14, 2018, from 9-11AM, with mass to follow. Burial will be private.
