Please share a memory of Stephen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stephen Paul Szerlag, 68, of Hatboro, Pennsylvania passed away on April 8, 2021 surrounded by his family. Stephen was a resident of Upper Moreland for the past 43 years. He was born in South Attleboro, Massachusetts to the late Joseph Anthony Szerlag and Monica (Klimaszewski) Szerlag on March 27, 1953. He is survived by his loving wife Jane (McMahon) Szerlag, and five children, Stephanie, Stephen (Lindsay), Jennifer (Bobby), Joseph, and late Jillian. Stephen was a devoted “Grandpoppy” to his grandchildren, Laila, Emma, Jake, Henry, Alexis, and Juniper. Stephen was one of five children and survived by his two sisters Cindy (Dave) Havas and Janice (Ed) Reed and his brother David (Laura) Szerlag. He was also the brother to the late Donna (Jim) Paolino. Stephen will also be greatly missed by his dog, Molly. He was a 1971 graduate of William Tennent High School in Warminster and earned his Associates Degree from Montgomery County Community College in 2003. He was a dedicated employee and was last employed by Gerhard’s Appliance in Glenside before he retired. He loved passing on the knowledge he acquired throughout the years, whether it was cars, appliances, the stock market, or the fine art of grill care. Stephen’s patient and steady hand will be missed. Stephen loved spending time with his family, watching the Philadelphia Flyers and his Nascar races, gardening and making pickles, and up-seasoning many recipes. He was an avid guitarist who relished performing and sharing music with family and friends. Stephen greatly enjoyed attending concerts with his wife, particularly Elliot Lewis, Hall and Oates, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, 70’s tribute bands, among others. He always looked forward to spending time in Ocean City, New Jersey and traveling by cruise ship to the Caribbean with his wife and family. Stephen would always be busy planning his next cruise ship adventure. He loved to hit up the casinos and play his favorite game of slots. Stephen was kind, fun loving, and friendly to everyone he would meet.
