James F. Nagle Obituary

A life well lived, just too short. James Francis Nagle (Jay) was born July 4, 1956 and left us way too soon, on November 17, 2021, surrounded by his family. Jay was a lifelong resident of Warminster, PA, but will be laid to rest with his parents, James Francis (1985) and Mary Elinor Nagle (1992) in Dedham, MA. Jay was known for his high standards and full commitment to everything he did. Jay was a thoughtful newspaper sports writer and editor during his career. Jay strove to engage readers by delivering the full story and not what a box score would reflect. It brought Jay joy to find a hook that created the desire to know more. Jay was also particularly passionate about his high school alma mater, St. Joseph’s Preparatory School (“The Prep”) in Philadelphia, PA, where he formed bonds and friendships that lasted over 50 years. But perhaps Jay was most impassioned about his family. Jay is survived by his brothers Joe (Cindy) and Mark (Michelle) and sister Mary Kate (John) Wade and his nieces and nephews Jessica, Amy (John Dillon), Jay and Nora and Maggie Wade. Jay was a man of deep faith that will always be remembered for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, thoughtfulness, the Rosalita dance and quiet strength that he lived by every day.

Jay’s life will be celebrated at a funeral mass held at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 420 High Street, Dedham, MA on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM, and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to St. Joseph’s Prep, c/o Mike Garuccio, Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Major Gifts, 1733 W. Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130, mgaruccio@sjprep.org. A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated in the Philadelphia area on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church 856 Euclid Avenue, Warrington, PA.
