John Clarence Gehris, February 12, 1940, to November 28, 2021 A retired Hatboro Fire Fighter and Upper Moreland Hatboro Joint Sewer Authority Plant Superintendent died Sunday, November 28, 2021, resting peacefully. John is predeceased by his wife June Marshall Gehris, and survived by his stepchildren, Susan Marshall Uter, Gwenn Marshall Ryan, David Marshall, 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. After graduating from Hatboro High School in 1958, John enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Seabees as a Second-Class Petty Officer as a Boatswain’s Mate (Naval Construction) from 1958 to 1962. After returning to his home in Hatboro, he volunteered with the Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro. There he rose to Lieutenant and became a life member, serving over 30 years. His 2 passions in life were being a Seabee and firefighter. He retired in 2005 from the Upper Moreland Hatboro Joint Sewer Authority, where over his career worked his way up to Plant Superintendent overseeing day to day operations. He spent most of his life serving and helping others, and his presence will be greatly missed. Visitation at Louis Swift Plunkett Funeral Home, 529 N. York Rd. Hatboro, Pa. Tuesday 10:30am to 11:30am. A service will be at 11:30am, interment following immediately at Hatboro Cemetery. Afterword, friends may call at the home of Susan Uter, 2690 Pioneer Rd, Hatboro, PA.
