Catherine M. Gallagher (née Mischler), age 90, entered the gates of heaven peacefully on Thursday, February 24th, 2022. Catherine was born November 30th, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Frederick and Mary Mischler. She attended Little Flower High School and later devoted her life to her family and her catholic faith. She was married, in 1953, to the late James J. Gallagher, her husband of 47 years. Together they raised nine beautiful children in Lafayette Hill and spent summers on the beaches of Longport, New Jersey.
Catherine’s joy was nurturing her children: Kevin (Peggy) (the late Lily) Gallagher, Marybeth (John) Nevulis, Jamie (Marybeth), Kathryn, Christine (the late Peter) Shields, Sean (Barb), Anne Marie (Michael) Martin, Matthew (Gina), Daniel (Laura). She is preceded in death by her sisters Helen (Richard) Rothwell and Carol (Henry) Begley. Catherine is survived by her brother Fred (Maureen) Mischler, her sister-in-law Helen Gallagher, sixteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.
Family and the home were the center of her world. Catherine was a devout Catholic, instilling the same values in her children. She was an active member of the church community and choir at Saint Philip Neri and later at St. Elizabeth’s. Her voice was truly the instrument of her love. She contagiously shared her joy with others particularly through her hobbies: Art Goes to School, singing, painting, and gardening. You could often find Catherine by Jimmy’s side on Hawk Hill, cheering on the men and women’s basketball teams and partaking in other philanthropic activities. Her bright spirit reflected the tenderness of her heart. She was the epitome of grace, imparting her pearls of wisdom on all she encountered.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4th 2022 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Saint Philip Neri Church (437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444).
