Obituary of Joan E. Gannon
Joan Eileen Gannon, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, loyal and gracious friend passed peacefully on March 22, 2023. She was 92 years old. Born in Philadelphia on January 15, 1931 to the late Frank Croke and Mae C. McGrath, Joan resided most of her life in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia.Joan served in the US Army with the rank of Sergeant in Okinawa Japan and Fort Lawton, Washington from September of 1951 to September of 1954.
Joan was a wonderful Mother and friend to all she knew. Her kindness and gentleness was noted by many. Her strong and positive spirit was encouragement to all. She enjoyed gardening, skiing, travel, and especially a meal with her family. Joan was preceded by her husband, James Francis Gannon ESQ, her Father, Frank Croke, her Mother, Mae C. Croke, her sister, Helen C. Purnell and her Brother Frank J. Croke.
Joan is survived by her six children Eileen, John (Joyce), James (Phyllis), Paul (Rose), Richard (Shelley) and Joseph (Maria), her six Grandchildren Nicholle (Kenneth), Alexis, Danielle, Joanie, Mackenzie and Matthew, and her five great Grandchildren Haley, Kenneth, Daniel, Lily Mae and Andrew.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 on April 5th at Saint Cecilia’s Church, 525 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19111. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to: ACCESS Community Center, ATTN: Sister Maggie Gannon, 701 Booth Street, Chester PA 19013.
