Obituary of Margaret P. Golden

Margaret Patricia Golden (Algeo) passed away March 3, 2024. Marge was born March 11, 1936 to Frank and Bridget Algeo in West Chester, PA. She grew up in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia where she attended St. Matthew School and Nazareth Academy High School. Marge married Francis “Franny” Golden in 1956; they were married for thirty-four years.

Marge worked for Advertising Specialty Institute retiring as a supervisor after twenty years of service. During her tenure she was awarded Employee of the Year in 1984. While raising her daughters Marge always found time to be a part of the PTA, homeroom mothers and lunch mothers at Our Lady of Good Counsel where she was a parishioner for over twenty years.

Sunday dinners were always special occasions and Marge happily hosted large extended family cook-outs during the summers on Militia Hill Rd. Her hobbies included bowling, gardening and sewing. She was an avid reader of the daily newspapers, cover to cover, always enjoying discussions on current events and completing the crossword puzzles which made her a whiz at Scrabble, her favorite board game.

Marge lived in Newtown for twenty-six years where she was a dedicated member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and an active member of the Eagle Ridge community and board. Marge spent her final years as a resident of Sunrise in Yardley and Neshaminy Manor in Warrington.

Loving mother of Kathleen Waddington (Ed) of Richboro, Eileen Conover (Carl) of Warrington, Marie Pierce (Bill) of Jamison, and Margie Mamrol (Jerry) of Ashburn, VA. Devoted Grandmom of Marty (Kelly), Megan (Matt), Marykay, Eddie, Amanda, Billy, Natalie (Jorge), Conor (Ali), Chloe, Derek, Justine and Owen. She loved being a GG to Hailey, Matthew, Michael, Kendall, Patrick, Kevin, Makayla, Reagan and Tommy. Marge is survived by her sisters Annamarie Mich and Kathy Geier (Gerry) and sister-in-law Ronnie Haun as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marge is being welcomed with open arms to eternal peace by many beloved family members and friends who have passed before her.

Relatives and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, March 12th at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd, Newtown, PA from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm.
