Obituary of John David Stevens

John David “Dave” Stevens, 83, of Warrington, PA, passed peacefully on September 29, 2024.

Dave was a 1959 graduate of Upper Moreland High School. In 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Ritchie). He went on to have a 28-year career at Merck, where he served on the Board of Directors at Merck and Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union for many years, including a term as president.

In his spare time, Dave furthered his education, earning a B.A. in Business Administration from Delaware Valley College in 1976. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, and shared his love of sports with his sons, John “David”, Brian, and Daniel.

Dave was a longtime member of the Warminster Parks & Recreation Board, dedicating over 20 years to coaching the local kids in baseball and soccer. For his dedication and outstanding commitment to the youth of the community, he was honored in 1998-1999 on the Edward A. Jefferies Memorial at Munro Community Park in Warminster.

After retiring from Merck, Dave enjoyed his time in Florida and traveling. He and Paddy spent their time between PA and Nettles Island, FL, where he volunteered on the board of directors. They later moved to Legacy Oaks in Warrington, where Dave was very active in bocce and other community activities, serving as head of the Landscape Committee for over 10 years.

Dave is survived by his wife, Paddy; his three sons, David and his wife April, Brian and his wife Lynne, and Dan and his wife Carey; his five grandchildren, Madeline, Colin, Alyssa, Taylor, and J.T.; and his soon-to-arrive great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Meyer, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Doris Stevens, and his brothers, Victor and Thomas.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church of Warminster, 500 Madison Ave., Warminster, PA 18974. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the service starting at 11 a.m. Interment is private.
