John was born in Philadelphia, PA to Patrick and Anna Phillips on November 27, 1934. He was the apple of his mother’s eye who instilled him with the kindest heart. Growing up with two sisters and a brother, John forged deep, enduring bonds with his siblings. They found ways to create joyful, lasting memories, even in difficult times, and remained close throughout their lives.

He went to high school at North Catholic and soon after enlisted in the Army, embarking on a four-year adventure he would recount fondly. If you have had the pleasure of sitting down for a conversation with John, he would love to share stories of his time in Germany, driving around in military jeeps and getting into mischief. Yet, when his service ended, John didn’t hesitate to return home to marry the love of his life, Dolores and started a career at General Electric that lasted 45 years. He and Dolores were married for 55 years and when she fell ill, John never left her side, caring for her until she passed in 2016. They raised 3 children, one who died tragically in childhood. He was an amazing and caring father who gave his children unconditional love. He showed them a strong work ethic, a passion to help others, and an unwavering commitment to family. He had Irish charm for days and never met a stranger. He would never leave a conversation without a warm “Goodbye, God Bless”

John is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Katz of Doylestown and his son, James Phillips of Warrington, grandchildren, Amanda Katz and Rachelle Katz, sister-in-law, Christine Phillips, and sister-in-law, Barbara Premaza. He is preceded in death by his wife Dolores Phillips, his son John B. Phillips Jr., mother, Anna Phillips, father Patrick Phillips, sister, Nancy Slack, sister, Margaret Hoobler, and brother, Joseph Phillips.
